Public holidays
What about holidays as a temporary worker?
As a temporary worker, you're entitled to paid holidays when:
- They occur during the term of your employment contract.
- Or fall between two contracts.
These holidays are paid along with your salary.
What if the holiday falls on a day you normally don't work?
Imagine a holiday falling on a day you don't usually work. What does this mean for you as a full-time temporary worker? Well, it's pretty simple and fair: the same rules that apply to permanent employees at the company you work for also apply to you.
The company may allow you to take the holiday at another time during the year. This flexibility is beneficial. Sometimes they schedule a substitute holiday for everyone on a set day, meaning everyone is off on the same day instead of the actual holiday.
However, if the company has already taken a substitute holiday collectively before you joined, then unfortunately, you're not entitled to that specific day off. A bit disappointing, but that's the rule.
In short, it depends on how the company arranges things, but generally, as a temporary worker, you have the same rights regarding holidays as permanent employees. This keeps things fair and clear for everyone!
Am I still entitled to a holiday after my temporary contract ends?
If you have seniority of 15 days to one month, you are entitled to one holiday occurring within 14 calendar days following your last working day. If you have more than one month of seniority, you're entitled to all holidays occurring within 30 calendar days following your last working day, provided that:
- You're not working for another employer and can prove it.
- You weren't dismissed for urgent reasons.
- You didn't terminate your contract.
